MML Law advises on Dundee Press Agency sale as founder-led business enters its next chapter

MML Law has advised on the sale of Dundee Press Agency to Hero Media & Entertainment, supporting a significant transition for one of Scotland’s best-known specialist publishing businesses.

Founded by Graham Ogilvy more than 40 years ago, Dundee Press Agency has grown into a major publishing platform with titles including Scottish Housing News, Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Legal News, Scottish Financial News and Irish Legal News.

MML Law advised on the legal aspects of the transaction, helping bring the deal to completion and supporting the business as it moves into a new phase under new ownership.

Ryan Russell of MML Law said: “Founder-led businesses carry years of hard work, relationships and reputation. Deals like this are never just about signing documents.

“They are about helping clients protect what they have built and move forward with confidence into the next chapter. It was a privilege to support Graham on this transaction and we wish everyone involved every success for the future.”

Graham Ogilvy said: “The sale of my business was quite complicated  with four companies, five titles and a host of websites involved in the transaction. The time-frame was also incredibly challenging – but Ryan and the MML team managed to conclude a deal which would normally have taken months to complete in just three weeks!

“It was a lot of hard work and midnight oil was burnt but the MML team got it across the line! I was absolutely delighted with their dedication and attention to detail. It was a great service – both personal and professional, with each step well explained. I felt the client really mattered to MML unlike some of the big corporate outfits where you are just a number.”

The transaction marks a new stage in the story of Dundee Press Agency and reflects the continuing importance of clear, commercially focused legal advice when established Scottish businesses change hands.
