New Edinburgh soft play opening with £80k HSBC UK funding
A new soft play featuring a three-storey climbing frame will open its doors in Bathgate next month thanks £80,000 funding package from HSBC UK.
Sandcastle Soft play is expected to open in February 2026 with six full and part time employees, with the expectation of hiring more over time to support with events including parties and pantomimes.
Co-owners Susan Donald and Barry Irvine decided to open the centre having seen areas for improvement in existing soft play centres in Edinburgh, particularly focusing on creating a safe and stimulating environment for children under 10 years old.
Susan Donald, co-owner of Sandcastle Soft Play, said: ” As a parent of three young children, I understand how important it is to have a warm, safe space for families.
“Our hope is that this soft play centre becomes a vibrant part of the local community. This funding has provided us with a significant opportunity to invest in ahigh quality large climbing frame as well as access to brilliant support from HSBC UK throughout our businesses journey.”
Laura Anne Robertson, portfolio manager at HSBC UK, said: “We’ve loved supporting Susan and Barry in bringing Sandcastle Soft Play to life. It’s inspiring to see two ambitious and passionate individuals creating a welcoming space for children and families in the community.
“We look forward to the centre opening soon and to supporting their exciting plans for future growth.”
