Aberdeen-based engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) energy sector services provider Nexos has appointed Scott McGinigal as its new chief executive with immediate effect.

Mr McGinigal is a chartered process engineer with more than 30 years of industry experience and brings deep technical knowledge and a strong track record of leadership across complex energy projects.

He joins from Spirit Energy, where he served as Technical Services & HSES Director, leading multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, drilling, operations, decommissioning and projects across both offshore and onshore assets.

His career includes senior leadership roles at Total and CNOOC, where he was Vice President – Major Projects, with responsibility for the company’s business and technical services functions.

Mr McGinial’s appointment comes at a time of strategic growth for Nexos, which has recently expanded into the onshore energy market with the launch of a 300-person division. This team is supporting the delivery of a range of energy transition projects, including hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), waste-to-energy, renewables and synthetic fuels.

As part of the D2Zero group, Nexos is building on its strong foundation as one of the UK’s leading offshore EPC contractors – supporting clients including Apache, CNRi, Ithaca Energy and EnQuest – to apply its integrated delivery model and offshore-grade expertise into high-growth onshore markets.

This expansion has been further bolstered by the acquisition of OSL Consulting Engineers and the opening of new offices in Hull, reflecting the company’s commitment to playing a meaningful role in the UK’s industrial decarbonisation efforts.

Mr McGinigal said: “Nexos has a critical role to play in the UK’s energy transition. The company has an impressive track record, a talented team and a clear strategic direction.

“I am delighted to be joining at this exciting time to help build on recent successes and drive further growth across our onshore and offshore portfolios.”

Bob Drummond, chief executive at D2Zero, added: “Scott’s leadership credentials and technical background are exemplary.

“His experience in delivering high-value, multidisciplinary projects will be instrumental as we continue to scale our offering and support clients through the energy transition.”
