Partners gather for launch of new Fife accountancy firm

Partners of EQ Accountants, which has merged with Fife firm Carters, gathered today to mark the official launch of the new business.

The merged firm will employ over 100 staff, including 16 Partners.

With plans to grow further and recruit into a range of positions within the months ahead, the merger will increase EQ’s turnover from £4M to over £6.5M within the first full year.

David Cameron, managing partner of EQ said: “The merger allows us to strengthen what is already a formidable resource. With clients throughout the UK, from Shetland to Manchester and beyond, EQ’s ability to support businesses across the country is now stronger than ever.

“Our focus now is to continue to expand upon our reputation for quality of service and innovation.

As we welcome over 40 people to EQ’s Fife offices, we truly have established ourselves as an “Employer of Choice”.

The quality of talent which we have at our disposal is exceptional and will undoubtedly have a positive effect on both the service which we provide and our reputation as a fantastic place to work.”

The firm will operate under the EQ brand, and in the first instance as “EQ @ Carters” in Fife, reflecting the importance of the Carters brand and the strong foundation that was established over many years. The move will see a very significant investment by EQ, estimated to be in excess of £500K, ensuring that each of the firm’s offices has the appropriate resources available to most effectively support clients.

Stephen Taylor, Managing Partner at Carters, added: “We are all very excited by the coming together of our two firms and I am delighted to see us create what I believe will be one of the most competent and innovative firms of Chartered Accountants in Scotland. EQ’s first priority at all times is client service, and in that regard Carters are a perfect fit for this merger.”
