Permanent vacancies in Scotland rise 38 per cent year-on-year

Demand for permanent professionals in Scotland rose by 38 per cent year-on-year to November 2018, according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals a rise in IT vacancies, which increased by 9 per cent.

Moya Ryland, regional director at APSCo, said: “After months of positivity, professional job availability in Scotland has continued to increase, with the country’s IT sector performing exceptionally well.

“Following a £1.2m grant, digital technology services firm, Incremental Group, recently announced plans to create over a hundred high value jobs in Glasgow. Despite also having offices across five UK locations, choosing Scotland as a place to source new talent for the firm and create more job opportunities shows great confidence in the skills and potential for growth the region has to offer.

“It’s vital that companies in the sector remain focused on building a strong culture to support expansion. And encouraging digital skills into the area should help support the region in retaining access to the talent it needs in the future.”
