Perthshire home improvements business set to expand with new funding
A family-run home improvement business based in Perthshire is set to expand its services after its owners accessed support from Business Gateway.
Founded in 1997, Cairnview Windows & Doors designs, supplies and installs high-quality, energy-efficient windows, doors, conservatory roofs and roofline products for homes across Perthshire, Tayside and Angus.
The business’ five fitters install around 50 products a week, from windows, doors and conservatories to roof lining and state-of-the-art Smart Glass, which is self-cleaning and designed to keep temperature at precise levels.
Owner Cheryl Turner took over Cairnview Windows & Doors from her father, Alan Turner, in 2020.
While keen to make changes to modernise and grow the business, Ms Turner was also determined to maintain the business’ transparent service and no-pressure approach that sets it apart from its competitors.
She recognised the need for structured support to scale effectively, and decided to approach Business Gateway for guidance.
Through Business Gateway, Ms Turner and her team were signposted to funding for staff training and undertook a comprehensive skills audit with Skills Development Scotland, which helped them better understand the team’s capabilities while identifying key areas for growth.
Connections to the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) also played a key role in streamlining internal processes and improving efficiency, while leadership development support empowered key team members and built a stronger management structure.
Business Gateway additionally introduced Ms Turner to social media specialists who helped reshape the business’ marketing approach, leading to a new partnership with a local agency that brought authenticity and agility to the brand. Collectively, this support led to a full rebrand and has enabled the business to look at expanding its office and showroom facilities, strengthen its foundations and position itself for continued long-term success.
Ms Turner said: “I had been aware of Business Gateway for many years, but I had always assumed their support was primarily geared towards smaller start-ups. I couldn’t have been more wrong! The support we’ve received has been truly transformational – comprehensive, strategic and tailored to our growth objectives.
“I’m so pleased that our client base has expanded and we’re on track to open a new showroom next year. We wouldn’t have achieved what we have without the strategic support and connections that Business Gateway provided. I was blown away by the level of insight and hands-on assistance and genuinely wished I’d reached out to them sooner.”
Cairnview Windows and Doors is set to open its new showroom in early 2026.
Andrew Webster, Business Gateway adviser, said: “Cheryl and the team at Cairnview Windows & Doors have shown remarkable ambition and drive. By embracing new strategies and investing in their team, they’ve strengthened their operations and positioned themselves for long-term success. It’s very rewarding to watch their plans take shape.”
