Homes for sale in Perth and Perthshire are ‘flying off the shelves’, according to local property experts.

As Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre collate their three quarter year statistics for 2017, it has emerged that 579 homes have sold so far this year, with a combined value of just over £105 million.

The average sale price so far this year has been £182,259.

In comparison, the three quarter period is an improvement on 2016, when £94 million worth of homes had sold by the end of September.

The last quarter – from July to September – also saw the largest average sale price PSPC has reported all year, at just over £188,000.

Anne Begg, manager of PSPC, said: “Due to there being a little less stock available to house hunters, in line with what is a national trend, properties are generally selling very quickly, occasionally within days or even hours. Some are simply flying off the shelves, with buyers having to act quickly. They certainly shouldn’t delay if they see a property which might fit the bill, especially if they are looking to move before Winter.

“Due to this huge demand, we would hope that more stock would become available to house-hunters before the year is out. By adding more properties to our ‘for sale’ portfolio, we can hopefully invigorate the market further while also boosting people’s confidence in putting their home on the market. Put simply, anyone contemplating a move should do so now while the demand is high.”

Mrs Begg added: “Perth is also undergoing a fairly significant expansion and we would hope that the increasing activity relating to new builds within the city of Perth and wider Perthshire will only add to this appeal, and stimulate the market further.”
