Mark McDavidMulti-award winning sustainability and eco-innovation business Plan Bee Ltd has announced the appointment of Mark McDavid as its new chairman.

The firm also work with local authorities such as Glasgow City Council, Inverclyde Council and North Lanarkshire Council delivering Curriculum of Excellence sustainability education packages.

The company has also recently started exporting its Origin Honey brand overseas and is currently preparing its largest crowdfunding project to date.

Mr McDavid, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the consumer goods industry having been Managing Director at Aunt Bessie’s Ltd, Hallmark Greeting Cards PLC, Marine Harvest Salmon and Northern Foods, is also currently Chairman of Yorkshire-based top tier food producer HECK! and a non-Executive Director of National Services Scotland.

I defy anyone not to be impressed by the passion of Warren and his team; and their positivity for planet, people and profit is infectious. I am delighted to be joining the team at Plan Bee and to be involved in a business which does good for the environment and positively enriches peoples’ lives.”

Mr McDavid replaces the outgoing Mike Lees.

The former Tennents Caledonian Breweries chief is standing down due to what the company referred to as “personal reasons”.

Mr Lees successfully ushered in a new phase of industry for the fledgling business and initiated the development of Plan Bee’s Origin Honey and Beehive Brae brands.

Warren Bader, Plan Bee CEO added: “We will be sad to see Mike Lees vacating the Chairman’s seat. He has achieved much during his short time with the company and has inspired the growth of the business into new areas of industry, developing our high quality honey products under the Origin Honey brand and of course using his expertise and experience to inspire our Beehive Brae Honey Beer and Mead range. In Mark we know that we have a worthy successor and we are looking forward to his inspiration and the sharing of knowledge as we look to grow Plan Bee, Origin Honey and Beehive Brae into successful brands both at home in Scotland and internationally.”
