PwC expands risk assurance team with director appointment

Steven Heeps

PwC has appointed former Shell and Deloitte executive Steven Heeps as a director at its Glasgow office.

Mr Heeps will sit within the growing risk assurance team, bringing a blend of finance and technology expertise to the firm, where he will work with clients across sectors including financial services and oil and gas to provide governance, risk and compliance services.

He is a chartered accountant who started his career with Deloitte prior to joining Royal Dutch Shell in 2013.

He initially joined Shell’s governance, risk and compliance organisation where he led a project to improve the control framework for its chemicals business. Laterally, he was head of financial control for Shell’s trading and supply business, one of the world’s largest commodity trading businesses.

Kenny Wilson, Glasgow office senior partner at PwC, said: “I’m delighted to welcome someone of Steven’s calibre to our team. As PwC continues to develop a suite of specialist services to our clients, technology is playing an increasingly important role in our business, and with Steven’s experience in both finance and technology, I’m confident he will be a tremendous asset.”

Mr Heeps, who studied computer science, then completed a research masters in distributed computing, before joining Deloitte’s Scottish Audit Advisory Team, added: “I bring a blend of technology and financial control expertise to my new role at PwC. With the rapid pace of change across the technology landscape and the increasing regulatory requirements placed on organisations in all sectors, I’m looking forward to getting out and helping clients in the local market.”
