RBS-backed £4m specialist care home to open doors

Bonnyholm Care Home - Scott Shearer, Kevin McCormack, John Shearer

A new 60-bed residential facility for the elderly, Bonnyholm Care Home, is being developed in Glasgow’s Crookston area thanks to a £4 million finance package from Royal Bank of Scotland.

The care home, which is currently being constructed on the site of the former Bonnyholm Primary School, will provide a mix of elderly nursing and specialist dementia care for the local area.

The project is in response to a tender issued by Glasgow City Council, in which the father and son team behind Bonnyholm Care Home won. The development, which is due to complete in April and open in May this year, is anticipated to create around 120 new jobs for the surrounding community in the Southside of Glasgow.

It will be the second care home delivered by John and Scott Shearer, who also own and operate the purpose-built Glenlivet Gardens care home based in Darnley, Glasgow, which was also developed with the help of Royal Bank of Scotland.
