Royal Bank of Scotland has extended its support for the Elevator Awards for both this year and next.

The awards event for entrepreneurs and businesses from Aberdeen City and Shire said it had secured the sponsorship from RBS which will be worth £50,000 over the next two years.

Malcolm Buchanan, chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland’s Scottish board, said: “The Elevator Awards is one of Scotland’s most respected and influential business awards programmes – and one which plays an important role in showcasing the talent, diversity and skill of organisations in the north-east.

“We are a committed supporter of the awards and would encourage every business to take advantage of the extended entry deadline to take part.”

Meanwhile, entry into this year’s awards scheme has been extended for a week.

The deadline for applications to the event is now Friday, March 17, to encourage more entrepreneurs and businesses from the north-east to apply.

Elevator chief executive Professor Gary McEwan urged businesses to get their applications in as soon as possible to be in with a chance of winning one of the coveted awards.

“We have seen a steady stream of applications in all 10 categories coming through since the launch of the awards last month, but we expect the usual last-minute flurry of activity as we reach the deadline date.

“This is the perfect opportunity for local businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase what they can do for the local community and now, more than ever, it is vital to raise the profile of your organisation.”
