Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has announced 40 new promotions to director, including the firm’s Scotland and Northern Ireland offices.

RSM UK has strengthened its tax faculty with the promotion of corporate tax specialist Will Simpson in Edinburgh. In Northern Ireland, Kieran Jones has been promoted in consulting in the Belfast office.

The newly appointed directors are among 40 promotions to director across the national firm – matching 2021’s largest ever cohort of new directors. Dozens more staff have also been promoted as RSM UK aims to become a first-choice employer of highly skilled people, and the leading adviser to middle market firms globally. This latest promotion round marks another significant milestone in its continued bid to strengthen the growth of the firm from within its own ranks.

RSM UK has also recently recruited a record high of 723 new students across the UK in 2022. The move surpasses its 2021 intake by 20%, as the firm continues to invest in its long-term growth plans. Specifically in the Scotland and Northern Ireland offices, the firm has taken on 52 new trainees, across all service lines in the business.

Alex Tait, RSM UK’s regional managing partner for Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “These promotions are hugely significant for our Scotland and Northern Ireland practice, while recognising the hard work, dedication and talent of our team. As someone who joined the firm as a trainee 26 years ago, I recognise how important it is to provide an exceptional workplace to ensure we continue to grow our own and empower our people to take ownership of their career and support their professional development.

He added: “These promotions also demonstrate our commitment to being a truly national provider of premium service with the ability to deliver for our clients locally. In addition, our record recruitment levels for graduates and school leavers and increased headcount across all service lines demonstrate our commitment to the region, the extent of opportunity for us in the middle market, and the breadth of our capability. We are excited by both driving our business forward and playing our part in the local communities in which we work.”
