Royal London Asset Management boss steps down

Hans Georgeson

The chief executive of Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has announced that he has stepped down after five years in the role.

Hans Georgeson took up the top job in 2021 following 10 years as the chief executive of Architas Asset Management, overseeing its growth from a start-up UK business to a 300-person investment company, responsible for over £40bn of assets across 12 countries in Europe and Asia.

Prior to this Mr Georgeson held a number of senior executive roles at Barclays Wealth, where he was responsible for its UK and European retail investment business. He was previously an executive director at Gerrard Investment Management, and ran a retail trading business earlier in his career.

Group finance chief Daniel Cazeaux will take over as the interim chief executive of the £212bn asset management firm, during its search for a permanent successor. Mr Cazeaux joined the firm in 2020 from big four accounting firm KPMG.

Group chief executive Barry O’Dwyer thanked Mr Georgeson for his contribution during his five years with the firm, adding: “Under his leadership, RLAM has grown strongly, broadened its investment capabilities and strengthened its position as a leading UK asset manager”.

It comes after the firm reported “record” annual inflows for 2025 and Royal London acquiring £6bn infrastructure manager Dalmore Capital last year. It also won a £4.6bn mandate from St James’s Place to run its Strategic Managed Fund , but also lost a string of senior fund managers.

Piers Hillier, CIO, left to take up the same role at Jupiter in 2025. Head of equities Peter Rutter left with a team of well-regard managers in 2024. The firm’s assessment of value report from this year noted several funds were underperforming, with the firm closing is Smaller Companies Fund last month
