Rutland Square Spirits reaches Canadian market through LCBO partnership

Edinburgh-based premium spirits company Rutland Square Spirits has secured a significant international milestone, with its products now available across Ontario through a partnership with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
The LCBO is one of the world’s largest and most respected alcohol retail and distribution organisations, operating more than 690 stores across Ontario and generating annual sales of over CAD $7 billion. It serves as the primary gateway for premium spirits entering the Canadian market and plays a central role in shaping consumer demand across the province.
The listing arrives at a moment of growing trade momentum between the United Kingdom and Canada. Total UK exports to Canada have recently reached approximately £18.3 billion, reflecting nearly 10% year-on-year growth and underlining Canada’s rising importance as a strategic export market for British businesses.
Founded by entrepreneur Nishant Sharma, Rutland Square Spirits was built on the idea of combining traditional Scottish distilling craftsmanship with the rich spice profile of Indian chai and rare tea botanicals, including White Oolong — one of the world’s most prized teas. This fusion of Scottish heritage and global flavour influences defines the brand’s identity. Its flagship expression, Rutland Square Chai Spiced Scottish Gin, has attracted growing interest from international consumers and trade buyers seeking distinctive profiles within the premium spirits category.
For the company, the LCBO listing represents a key step in its broader international expansion strategy as it continues to build distribution across global markets.
Mr Sharma said: “Seeing our products on shelves in Ontario through the LCBO is an incredibly proud moment.
What started from a small home office, with our early stock stored in a garage, has grown into a spirits brand now reaching consumers across international markets.
“I want to thank our investors, partners, distributors and everyone who has believed in this vision. Most importantly, to recognise the teams we have built across the UK and India whose commitment and hard work continue to drive the business forward every day.”
