Savills’ rural team has announced their sponsorship of Women in Wellies, a podcast series which shines a light on the lives of inspiring women who live and work in rural Scotland.

This new sponsorship builds on the podcast’s mission to amplify the voices of remarkable women in the rural sector.

The Women in Wellies Podcast launched in January 2023, created by Charlotte Gilfillan, a Highland-based land agent, and Hannah Lloyd, an Ayrshire-based business development manager. For each episode, the Women in Wellies team are joined by guests who share their stories, experiences and lessons, including the personal and professional challenges they have faced and overcome.

Over the course of the last 25 episodes, Ms Gilfillan and Ms Lloyd have enjoyed conversations with a diverse range of women from crofters to foresters, luxury accommodation providers to veterinarians and have recently released their first conversation with a next gen guest as part of a new series in 2024.

Women in Wellies co-founder Hannah Lloyd said : “We’re delighted to have secured the support of Savills Rural Team as we continue to grow and develop the podcast and the Women in Wellies brand.

“The podcast was born from our shared love of rural Scotland and passion to highlight the opportunities rural Scotland presents for the next generation.

“Over the past 14 months we have seen the stories and themes resonate with a broad spectrum of listeners while raising awareness of some important causes and initiatives.”

The first podcast of the new partnership will air on International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March. It will feature Kim Cameron, the multi-award winning entrepreneur and owner of the Gin Bothy at Glamis in Angus. Gin Bothy have been selected to be part of the Oscar Nominees gift bags this year, with nominees including Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy and Jodie Foster getting to enjoying a special limited edition of the Gin Bothy Original Gin.

Ms Cameron said: “I am delighted to be part of the women in wellies podcast which I listen to and always love to hear the guests stories!”

Savills Natural Capital Director Lucy Jenner has been interviewed for an episode which will air on 5th April.

Ms Jenner said: “Savills is delighted to sponsor the Women in Wellies podcast. Personally I was really honoured to be asked to join the impressive roster of women who are helping to lift the lid on the diverse and exciting nature of working life in rural Scotland by telling their stories.

“Through Women in Wellies, Charlotte and Hannah are doing a fantastic job of sharing the many wonderful causes, initiatives and challenges women in the rural sector are taking on.”

Women in Wellies co-founder Charlotte Gilfillan said: “The response we have had to the podcast so far has been overwhelming, and we now have a community of thousands.

“Having support from a global brand like Savills will allow us to grow that community further and help inspire more people, especially the next generation of rural women in Scotland.”

Women in Wellies gives a voice to the women shaping rural business life, in an engaging format which offers inspiration and support to others whose livelihoods are rooted in rural Scotland. The podcast can be accessed on all major streaming platforms, with episodes released fortnightly.
