North-east accountancy firm SBP Accountants and Business Advisers has appointed a tax specialist to support its clients across the firm’s four offices.

Mark Rhynas has joined the 34-strong SBP team as a tax manager following eleven years working within accountancy in the Aberdeen area.

Mr Rhynas is a specialist in R&D tax (research and development), as well as employee share schemes, corporate and personal tax, tax planning, and capital gains.

Joining the team in the Aberdeen office, Mr Rhynas said: “I enjoy working with clients directly, getting to know them and helping them to save money whilst navigating the world of tax, both corporate and personal.

“I have a strong accountancy background and will help clients to better prepare for tax, whilst also developing a better tax function within SBP and bringing a fresh approach in terms of any changes in taxation.”

Managing partner, John Hannah, added: “Mark is a key appointment to the growing SBP team and will be responsible for creating and building a stronger tax department within the business.

“In addition to managing the department, he will also take control of all tax issues for our high net worth and corporate clients. This is a brilliant appointment for the business and especially for our clients and I’m looking forward to Mark’s input to strengthen the business.”

The firm, which also has offices in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Banff, currently has 31 employees and three partners.
