Science and technology vacancies in Scotland rise 21 per cent year-on-year

Demand for science and technology contractors in Scotland rose by 21 per cent year-on-year to August 2018, according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals a notable increase in overall demand for contract talent rising by 9 per cent.

Moya Ryland’s, regional director at APSCo, said: “After months of success, professional job availability in Scotland is continuing to rise. Leading this success is the country’s science and technology sector, which is experiencing positive growth.”



“The recent launch of Scotland’s first ‘Fintech Skills Academy’ which is a consortium of tech companies, will help to develop talent and offer a flow of qualified professionals to the sector for the benefit of companies operating in the region.”

“Initiatives such as this provide a perfect opportunity for businesses to implement tangible actions and continue to grow talent, which is vital for the future skills economy.”
