Business advisers and accountants, Scott-Moncrieff, have helped Social Bite to take the next step in their digital inclusion project by helping them to fund new IT hardware for their Social Bite shops.

IT equipment will now be available across all five of Social Bite’s shops in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen as well as at The Social Bite Village, where residents will have a safe living environment, for 12-18 months, while they receive extensive support in a community environment to learn new skills and get their life back on track.

Scott-Moncrieff donated a total of 34 PCs and 54 laptops. Secure IT disposal specialists Re-Tek securely wiped the data, refurbished and sold the hardware on into their reseller network, generating funds to purchase , 25 high spec laptops and 4 PCs, fully equipped with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.

Social Bite’s digital inclusion project enables homeless people to stay in touch with loved ones, access learning and education materials as well as apply for financial support and jobs.

Fraser Nicol, a partner at Scott-Moncrieff, said: “Digital inclusion is vitally important as access to the internet and an online identity become a necessity in daily life. We are delighted to be working with Re-Tek to support Social Bite’s mission to end homelessness in Scotland.”
