Scottish Building Society strengthens partnership with Edinburgh Rugby

Scottish Building Society has renewed and expanded its partnership with Edinburgh Rugby for a further two years.
The Society, which has proudly served as Edinburgh Rugby’s main club partner for the past four years, will now extend its backing to cover both the women’s and an expanded programme of community activations.
With the launch of the Celtic Challenge league, Edinburgh Rugby Women’s team has grown from strength to strength and now with additional backing from Scottish Building Society the team are looking to kick on this season and finish in its highest position ever.
- Over the course of the partnership, Scottish Building Society has played a vital role in community engagement, helping to deliver a number of successful initiatives, including:
- Scottish Building Society Inclusive Festival – which brought together more than 400 inclusive athletes in for a national tournament. Now a seasonal event fixture, the competition’s winners were celebrated in front of a packed crowd at Hive Stadium.
- Tackle Maths – an innovative school’s programme that has engaged nearly 1000 pupils across Scotland. Using rugby and Hive Stadium as inspiration, the project encourages young people to build confidence in maths and develop stronger financial literacy skills.
- Community competitions – including Win a Training Session and Win a Mascot, run in partnership with organisations such as Make-A-Wish, giving young fans and grassroots clubs the chance to train with Scotland internationals and experience unforgettable matchday moments.
- Walking rugby tournament – our popular Walking Rugby tournament at Hive Stadium. The mix gender format is a slower-paced, non-contact version of the sport, designed especially for older participants and encourages rugby for all ages and abilities.
Paul Denton, chief executive of Scottish Building Society, said: “Since becoming Main Club Partner in 2021, our relationship with Edinburgh Rugby has grown in both scale and substance. What began as a name on the front of the shirt has evolved considerably.
“We now support Edinburgh Rugby Women as well as the men’s team and investing in meaningful community programmes. With strong foundations now in place, this is the right moment to build further.
“Our aligned values and growing success meant it was a simple decision to expand our work together.”
Douglas Struth, Edinburgh Rugby managing Director, said: “This partnership extension with Scottish Building Society is a huge moment for our club. Their support has become part of the fabric of Edinburgh Rugby, and this new agreement is a significant show of faith that will help secure our future for the seasons to come.
“Scottish Building Society is so much more than a sponsor; they are a true partner at the very heart of our community programmes. From the brilliant success of our flagship Tackle Maths programme to their sponsorship of our inclusive team and subsequent festivals, their backing allows us to make a real, positive impact far beyond the pitch.
“We are incredibly proud to have a partner who shares our values and is dedicated to helping us grow the game, from grassroots up to the professional level. Their continued support of our women’s team, in particular, is hugely important as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible as one club.”
Claire Cruikshank, head coach of Edinburgh Rugby Women, said: “It’s fantastic to have the continued backing of Scottish Building Society. Their support is helping us grow the women’s game at a crucial stage, and as we head into only our third season, the ambition and commitment shown by the Society is something that excites us all.”
