Scottish economy grows 0.2 per cent

StatsScottish GDP grew by 0.2 per cent during the fourth quarter of 2015, according to statistics announced today by Scotland’s Chief Statistician.

The latest Gross Domestic Product release, covering the period October to December 2015, shows that total output in the economy grew by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter.

On an annual basis, compared to the fourth quarter of 2014, GDP grew by 0.9 per cent.

Calendar year growth for 2015, i.e. comparison of the four quarters of 2015 with the four quarters of 2014, was 1.9 per cent.



The services sector, which accounts for nearly three quarters of the economy, grew by 0.3 per cent during the latest period, the production sector contracted by 0.1 per cent, and construction output expanded by 0.1 per cent.
