Scottish MD takes second entrepreneurial crown this year

The managing director of Aberdeen headquartered oil and gas and marine services firm OEM Group is celebrating after winning a second accolade this year for his entrepreneurial flair.

Barry Park picked up the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the WeDo Scotland Entrepreneur Awards held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh.

This follows on from the 32-year old’s win at the prestigious Elevator Awards in June, where he was named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year.

The WeDo Scotland Entrepreneur Awards is an annual celebration of outstanding enterprising success recognising the vision, ability and contribution of the country’s business men and women.

Park established the oil and gas and marine services firm in 2012 after spotting a gap in the market for diesel engine services, spare part procurement and fuel conditioning for the oil & gas, marine and energy sectors.

The company now has 30 employees based in offices in the UK, Australia and United Arab Emirates.

On winning the award, Park said: “Words cannot describe how proud I feel right now. It is an honour to be acknoweldged as Young Entrepreneur of 2016 by the WeDo Scotland Entrepreneur Awards judging panel – and to be accepting a second entrepreneurial title in less than six months.

“It’s been an incredible journey so far, especailly as the oil and gas sector has been going through an extremely challenging time. To enhance our offering, we streamlined our business units, OEM Engine Services, OEM Fuel Services and OEM Diesel Pty Ltd, and added OEM Middle East to form OEM Group.

“Not long after this we invested in a larger workshop facility in Scotland, won several important contracts including a two-year award worth up to £1million with international energy services company Go Marine.

“I am truly priviliged to work with an incredibly talented and hard working group of individuals at OEM Group, and it’s thanks to their dedication and constant efforts that also allow the company to shine at times like this.”
