SEP managing partner appointed Chair of BVCA

Calum Paterson

The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has welcomed Calum Paterson, managing partner of Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), as its Chairman for 2018/19.

The BVCA, which represents the private equity and venture capital industry in the UK, has more than 700 member firms, including over 300 fund managers and 120 institutional investors.

Mr Paterson has worked in private equity and venture capital since 1991. He was co-founder of SEP in 2000 and has been responsible for managing the firm since then. SEP is one of the UK’s leading investors in high-growth companies.

He said: “I am very pleased to take on the role of BVCA Chair, particularly at this important time for the industry and for the UK economy. I would like to pay tribute to my immediate predecessor, Helen Steers of Pantheon Ventures, for doing such an excellent job during the last 12 months. Private equity and venture capital plays a vital role in the UK, not least in terms of supporting the growth of innovative companies. I look forward to supporting the BVCA in representing and promoting the entire industry, across the whole country.”
