Accountancy and business advisory firm Scott-Moncrieff has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at the UK MPF (Managing Partners’ Forum) Awards for Management Excellence 2017, the only Scottish firm to have achieved a place on the shortlist.

The MPF Awards recognise excellence and best practice across the professional services sector, including the accountancy, legal and commercial property professions.

Scott-Moncrieff, which launched its new five-year business strategy just 18 months ago, is in the running for Best Strategic Leadership and Best Strategy Implementation.

The firm, which operates from offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness and has 18 partners, 16 directors and some 200 staff, appointed a new board in 2015.

It was tasked with implementing the new five-year strategy alongside substantial improvements to efficiency, including major IT investments, as well as deliver a 50 per cent increase in income.

In the first year of the new strategy, as well as achieving its aims to improve communication and commitment to its people, the firm delivered over 10 per cent increase in turnover, with margins and net profits also significantly improved.

Stewart MacDonald, managing partner of Scott-Moncrieff, said: “The change at Scott-Moncrieff has been extremely positive, and being shortlisted for the MPF Awards just highlights our success in refocusing our business and the determination of the entire firm to make this happen. The step-change in communication, growth and a renewed commitment to our people has already led to tangible improvements in both employee engagement and turnover.

“By mixing commercial objectives with a clear vision of who we want to be, we have created a motivational strategy for the firm which is not only already generating successful results, but also puts us in a strong position for the future.”

The winners of the MPF Awards will be announced at a Gala dinner in London on 8 March.
