SSE replaces auditor

Perth-based energy giant SSE has announced that it has replaced KPMG with Ernst & Young as its new external auditor.

The announcement follows a competitive tender selection process under oversight of SSE’s audit committee as well as SSE chairman Richard Gillingwater and finance director Gregor Alexander.

The Scottish Hydro Electric owner said EY would be its external auditor for the year ending March 31, 2020, subject to approval by shareholders at the energy company’s 2019 annual meeting.

Current external auditor, KPMG, will still undertake the audit for the year ending March 31, 2019, the firm added.

SSE audit committee chairman Peter Lynas said: “We thank KPMG for their excellent contribution as SSE’S auditor for many years and we look forward to working with EY in the future.”
