Standard Life appoints new strategy director

Edinburgh-based insurance giant Standard Life has today announced the appointment of Lan Tu as strategy director.

Reporting directly to chief executive Keith Skeoch, and working closely with Standard Life’s strategic executive committee and board, Ms Tu will be responsible for shaping and progressing the overall strategic direction for the company.

Most recently she held a number of senior roles at American Express.

Mr Skeoch said: “Lan brings a huge amount of experience to Standard Life having worked across international markets at American Express and with insurance and asset management clients in her previous role at McKinsey.

Lan’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our existing talent pool and utilising new experience and insights to help drive our strategic direction.

“Lan’s collaborative and inclusive style alongside her highly commercial skills are an extremely positive addition and I’m looking forward to working with her.”

Ms Tu will take up her position on 6 April.
