STV SFO to become chair at Glasgow marketing firm

The chief financial officer of broadcaster STV, George Watt, is to take the helm of Glasgow-based SpaceandPeople, which specialises in renting out space in shopping centres for marketing promotions.

Mr Watt, who has served as a non-executive director of Aim-quoted Spaceandpeople since 2014 and held roles at KPMG in the UK and US before his appointment at STV, will replace Charles Hammond who is retiring as non-executive chairman with effect from 29 June.

Matthew Bending, chief executive officer of Aim-quoted Spaceandpeople, paid tribute to the contribution of Hammond who is also chief executive of Forth Ports.

“He has been unrelenting in ensuring the management team focused on the core strengths of the business, and has been an excellent chairman.

“The fact that George Watt is replacing him allows both continuity and a fresh perspective for the company.

“With huge experience in both the city and media worlds as chief financial officer of STV Group he is well placed to give advice and guidance to the board and represent shareholders’ interests in the future.”

Spaceandpeople provides space in shopping centres and train stations for companies to promote products or set up temporary sales space.
