The Electronics Group expands into Scotland with new Aberdeen IPC training centre
AM Sci Tech, a subsidiary of Hurstwood Holdings, the owner of Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks, has concluded a further letting at the Innovation Park, in Bridge of Don.
The Electronics Group Ltd (EGL), independent IPC and electronics training partner, has secured 1,546 sq ft of space at Davidson House, marking the company’s first expansion into Scotland and the launch of a new Aberdeen-based IPC training centre. The suite has been taken on an initial two-year lease.
The new facility will become EGL’s third UK training centre and its first in Scotland, complementing the company’s headquarters in Leeds and its second centre in Cirencester, opened in the summer of 2024.
The new Aberdeen training centre is scheduled to open in February and will initially employ two people, with further recruitment plans as the business continues to grow. It will deliver a wide range of certified IPC training courses and electronics skills programmes, all led by Master IPC Trainers with extensive backgrounds in the electronics manufacturing industry. The new location will significantly improve access to industry-recognised training for professionals and businesses across the north-east of Scotland.
Established in 2003, EGL has more than 20 years’ experience delivering certified IPC training and electronics skills courses to organisations of all sizes across the UK and internationally.
The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of services, including IPC Certified Courses, bespoke soldering and electronics skills training, technical inspection services and specialist recruitment for both temporary and permanent roles. In addition, EGL is both an Authorised IPC Training Centre and an authorised IPC Distributor, supplying a range of industry products through its online store.

Dan Bloyce, general manager of The Electronics Group Ltd, said: “This is a major step forward in our mission to make high-quality electronics training more accessible to professionals and businesses throughout the UK.
“We’re proud to be the first and only IPC training centre in Aberdeen, making it easier than ever for local professionals to access trusted, internationally recognised IPC training.
“Until now, many of our customers in Scotland have had to travel significant distances to achieve certification. By opening this dedicated facility on the Innovation Park in Aberdeen, we’re removing that barrier and giving local professionals the opportunity to train and certify without leaving the region.”
Gordon Pirie, asset manager at Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks, added: “We are delighted to welcome The Electronics Group to Aberdeen Innovation Park. Their decision to establish their first Scottish training centre here underlines the strong demand we continue to see from high-quality, skills-led and technology-focused occupiers.
“Davidson House offers a flexible, well-connected working environment and we look forward to supporting EGL as they grow their presence in the north-east.”
