The Glendronach Distillery set for £30m expansion

The Glendronach Distillery, located in the Valley of Forgue in Aberdeenshire, is set for a £30 million expansion to help meet increased demand.

Brown-forman, the owner of the distillery, revealed that the investment follow a tripling in demand for the distillery’s single malts since Glendronach came under its ownership six years ago.

The three-year phased project will double the distillery’s current production capacity of almost two million litres per year and will also improve energy efficiency, The Herald reports.

Laura Tolmie, distillery manager, said attention will be paid to preserving the site on the grounds of the former Boynsmill Estate, including the restoration of the former maltings building as a working production area.
