Thomson Cooper strengthens insolvency team with new appointment

Ian Brown

Scottish accountancy firm Thomson Cooper has announced the appointment of Ian Brown as a senior manager within its personal and corporate debt solutions team.

Mr Brown is a Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) expert and his appointment complements the firm’s strategy to extend their reach within the Scottish debt marketplace.

He has gained significant experience providing advice to clients across the country in his former role within an established firm of Insolvency specialists based in Glasgow, and as a money advisor.

He has represented the Insolvency Practitioners Association on the Business DAS working group, in conjunction with the Accountant in Bankruptcy and the Scottish Government.

Mr Brown has an excellent track record in managing professional insolvency teams and presenting to solicitors, accountants and other business professionals on DAS.

The Dunfermline-based firm said Mr Brown’s depth of knowledge means he can support individuals, sole traders and partnerships to find debt solutions and assist in business recovery, providing clarity and reassurance to clients who are often facing complex, challenging circumstances.

Partner Richard Gardiner, head of the Insolvency Department, said: “Ian is a valuable addition to our established, experienced team. He is well connected and respected in the industry for his professionalism and will play a pivotal role in our Business Development activities. Ian’s appointment reinforces our ambition to grow the practice and capitalise on the opportunities in our chosen markets.”
