TRICAPITAL Angels leads £1.2m investment into UK Starlink competitor

JET Connectivity, a UK-developed technology firm specialising in infrastructure-independent 5G connectivity, has raised £1.2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round to accelerate its commercial growth.

The round was led by Scottish Borders-based TRICAPITAL Angels, with additional participation from private investors and The FSE Group.

Founded in 2020 by a team of engineers, JET Connectivity has built its own proprietary hardware and software stack, offering secure “pop-up” 5G mesh systems capable of operating in offshore, coastal and ultra-remote environments where conventional infrastructure is unavailable. The business has grown rapidly since its launch, recently securing several high-profile public sector contracts in mission-critical and nationally significant applications.

The fresh capital will be deployed throughout 2026 to scale operations and meet rising demand, particularly across national security and resilience sectors. Specific commercial priorities include the roll-out of JET’s fixed and buoy-mounted 5G platforms, which are already scheduled for deployment from the Scottish Highlands to the North Sea. The company also intends to establish a manufacturing facility in Scotland within the next 12 months to satisfy growing international demand.

Moray Martin, CEO of TRICAPITAL Angels, described JET Connectivity as combining “deep technical expertise with a strong commercial focus”, and highlighted the investment as consistent with the firm’s partnership-led approach to portfolio growth.

James Thomas, CEO of JET Connectivity, said the funding positions the company to “scale at the pace required to support critical national security initiatives” and serve organisations operating in complex, infrastructure-constrained environments.

With demand rising across offshore wind, aquaculture, environmental monitoring and emergency response, JET Connectivity is targeting significant expansion both domestically and internationally.
