Mr Blackie has more than a decade of experience across infrastructure finance, sustainable investment and natural capital. His career has included financing large-scale infrastructure projects across Europe and frontier markets, alongside hands-on experience developing woodland creation projects in Scotland with TreeStory. This included more than four years at Triodos Bank’s investment arm, Triodos Investment Management, in the Netherlands.

Based in Edinburgh, Mr Blackie will include working with companies, charities and project developers to structure debt financing that supports the transition to a more sustainable economy, with a particular focus on nature, circular economy and environmental infrastructure. 

He said: “Having worked across both the investment and the first-hand development sides of nature restoration projects, I’ve seen the important role that access to capital can play in turning ambitious ideas into reality. I’m delighted to join Triodos Bank UK and focus on providing finance to businesses and projects delivering positive environmental and social outcomes across the nature sector.”

Triodos Bank has committed to mobilising €500m into nature-based solutions by 2030. Triodos Bank UK’s recent projects include a £3.3m loan to support Akre, a family-run farming site in Scotland that’s addressing climate change and biodiversity loss through scalable, high-integrity woodland creation projects. It has also provided finance to RESTORE Emblehope in Northumberland, enabling the long-term restoration of a 7,500-acre landscape.
