Weatherbys Private Bank has continued its ambitious plan to grow its business in Scotland with the appointment of Douglas Noble as Senior Adviser.

Douglas is one of the most qualified private bankers in the industry having over 40 years experience. A lawyer by training, Douglas spent a large part of his career with Bank of Scotland where he was responsible for launching its first private banking operation.

Following the creation of HBOS, Mr Noble was responsible for implementing the existing private banking model he created within BoS across the enlarged HBOS Group.

After 25 years he left to join Adam & Co where he successfully launched its private banking office in Aberdeen.

Other roles include building Barclays Wealth’s Private Banking operation in Scotland, which he headed, and most recently working at Brown Shipley to develop their Private Banking operation in Scotland, with a particular focus on Lending and building lending teams in each of the five Brown Shipley offices.

Roger Weatherby, Chief Executive, Weatherbys Private Bank said: “Douglas’ appointment sends a strong signal about our serious intentions to develop and grow our business in Scotland. Weatherbys Private Bank is seeking strong growth which could see its client base, profits and loan book double over the next five years and expects these new clients will come from a broad range of backgrounds and careers.”

Douglas Noble added: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Weatherbys Private Bank. It has an excellent track record combined with a business model that particularly resonates with clients revolving around outstanding personal service and importantly a culture of integrity and transparency where “my word is my bond“. I have an excellent relationship with Duncan having worked with him at both Bank of Scotland and Adam & Co. I know we will be an excellent team to deliver on Weatherbys’ ambitious growth plans.”

Duncan Gourlay, head of Weatherbys Private Bank in Scotland said: “10 years ago, 64 per cent of our clients were in London and South East. Having launched our Scottish office in 2013, we are seeing strong growth in the country and want to further expand our exposure in the major Scottish cities.

“Weatherbys’ model is different to others. Rather than being justinvestment-focused, our central activity is the provision of banking and lending, a skillset in which Douglas has outstanding credentials.”
