Zumo appoints first chief operating officer
Edinburgh-based Zumo, the cryptocurrency wallet and exchange platform, has appointed Dagmara Aldridge as its first chief operating officer.
Dagmara Aldridge assumes her post immediately and brings over 15 years of leadership experience across the payments, financial services and FinTech sectors. Dagmara was most recently head of operations, change and delivery for UK-based multi-channel payments FinTech, CashFlows, having previously served in various change delivery leadership roles with Valitor, Travis Perkins and Barclaycard.
Ms Dagmara is based in London from where she will service Zumo’s international team both there and in Edinburgh and Slovenia.
The appointment comes as cryptocurrencies continue to gain traction with mainstream investors and consumers. Bitcoin has enjoyed a rally of 60% on the year to sit above $11,000, benefitting buy-and-hold investors.
Earlier this week, Zumo launched a new app-based exchange feature which allows users to easily buy, sell, send and spend cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum without the need to use an intermediary such as a bank.
Eurekahedge estimates that digital currency funds were up more than 50% from January to July as investors choose Bitcoin as a safe growth asset in uncertain financial markets.
Dagmara Aldridge said: “What attracted me to Zumo is its simple, yet innovative non-custodial crypto wallet & payment platform, a team with a strong mission to democratise access to cryptocurrencies and a purpose-driven culture underpinned by a set of values that align with my personal principles.
“I am delighted to have been asked to join Zumo at this pivotal moment in its growth journey and look forward to help growing a business with huge potential to provide accessible alternatives to traditional money for everyone.”
Nick Jones, founder and chief executive officer of Zumo, added: “We are delighted to welcome Dagmara and her experience of the mainstream payments industry to our team.
“Zumo’s mission is to bring the benefits of cryptocurrency and the blockchain to everyone. And as financial markets are clearly showing, cryptocurrency’s time has come. That makes Dagmara’s appointment, with her knowledge of change delivery and how we can bring those benefits to the mainstream, transformational for us.”
