Opus Restructuring & Insolvency appoints George Dale as partner

George Dale

George Dale, a prominent member of the Scottish restructuring and insolvency community, has joined Opus Restructuring & Insolvency as a partner.

Opus established an initial presence in Scotland, with the appointment of Mark Harper as partner, earlier this year. Mr Dale will open an office at 23 Melville Street, Edinburgh in mid-July with a view to growing and developing the firm’s restructuring and insolvency business in Scotland. In previous insolvency roles, he has successfully held a number of senior leadership positions while operating extensively across the UK on various assignments.

Mr Dale’s broad contentious and non-contentious insolvency experience, expertise and database of contacts is an excellent fit to support Opus’ ambitions and is backed by the team’s other service lines including business advisory, forensic accounting and corporate finance.

The new team is well placed to advise and support directors, business owners, lenders, creditors, solicitors, accountants, and other stakeholders, irrespective of the business sector as we undoubtedly move towards an evolving period of greater uncertainty for businesses, post pandemic.

Having wide geographical coverage and extensive resources enables the firm to carry out national and complex assignments. Opus has grown rapidly since it was established in 2013 – from five partners and two locations at formation to 23 partners and over 60 team members, now in 12 locations.

Trevor Binyon, executive board member at Opus Business Advisory Group, said: “George’s reputation and experience is well recognised and justified given his knowledge, professional standing and broad network. During this time of uncertainty, we are exceptionally pleased that George has joined and see this as a positive step to supporting Scottish businesses during this challenging time.”

George Dale added: “Joining Opus is an excellent opportunity and one which will enable me to widely promote our range of bespoke restructuring and insolvency solutions throughout Scotland. While the partner led firm has national reach and significant depth of experience, it compliments well with our knowledge and understanding of the local market.”
