Aegon UK appoints new Chairman

Mike Rogers, the former chief executive of Liverpool Victoria, has been appointed as the new non-executive chairman of Aegon UK.

Mr Rogers takes up his new role at the life insurance, pensions and asset management firm, which employs 2000 staff at its Edinburgh headquarters, having previously been CEO of Liverpool Victoria between 2006 and 2016, and prior to that working at Barclays, rising quickly through the ranks from graduate trainee to managing director of UK Retail Banking.

He also currently holds non-executive director roles at Royal Bank of Scotland and Experian.



Adrian Grace, Aegon’s chief executive, said: “Mike has a very strong record and great experience in UK financial services across both banking and insurance and is a great choice to take on the role of Chairman. We are delighted that he has accepted the role and his experience will help us to deliver on our strategy of supporting the financial advisers and workplace customers with the best tools and service in the market.”

Mr Rogers said: “Last year was a transformational year for the company with a number of strategic acquisitions. The business of integrating both the Cofunds and BlackRock DC businesses is progressing well and I’m looking forward to working with the management at a time when demand for financial advice, the growth of the DC savings market and the increasing requirement for scale in the platform market make this an a exciting sector of financial services.”
