And finally... carrot get enough

Hungry Scots have munched their way through more than 185 million carrots from Aldi Scotland, which reported impressive sales of the root vegetable this International Carrot Day (4 April).

Kevin the Carrot, Aldi’s beloved mascot, revealed the discount retailer sold over 203,000 1kg bags of carrots, 168,000 500g bags, and 78,000 bags of sliced carrots.

Aldi Scotland sources its carrots from local suppliers like Aberdeenshire-based Benzies. With 20,000 - 30,000 tons of Scottish carrots produced every year, it’s clear that the Scots take their carrots seriously.

Graham Nicolson, group buying director of Aldi Scotland, said: “A delicious, nutritional, and versatile vegetable, it is one of the most popular vegetables on our shelves, and a staple of lentil soups and Sunday Roasts across the country.

“Our customers bagged over 185 million carrots in the last year, and I have no doubt it’s because of the enhanced freshness that comes from being locally grown in Aberdeenshire,
and the competitive, every day amazing price point at which we proudly retail at Aldi Scotland.”
