And finally… in for a pound

A construction worker from Leeds has bagged a new house and a Mercedes as part of a competition prize bundle worth nearly £850,000.
Father-of-one Ali Mohammed was left in disbelief when he discovered he had won the life-changing prizes in BOTB’s 99p competition – after entering it for the very first time.
“From renting a one-bedroom flat to owning your own house – it’s truly life-changing,” said the 29-year-old.
“I didn’t sleep that night because I didn’t know if it was real or a dream.
“It was the first time in my life I’ve entered anything like this.
“I thought I would kill some time on my phone and saw a video of the house come up. I entered about an hour before the competition closed. I had a feeling inside to say just do it!”
Ali, who works in the construction industry, was at home when the BOTB team knocked on his door to break the news.
“Are you joking?,” he said when he opened the door. “This is unbelievable.”
The prize includes a £799,000 modern, mid-terrace townhouse in Surrey – ideal for family life, featuring four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a 35ft open-plan living space – and a Mercedes C63S, a high-performance luxury car worth £48,500.
The day after turning up at his doorstep in Leeds, the BOTB team accompanied Ali down to Surrey where he got a chance to look around his new home and car.
“It’s my favourite car and the sound of the engine is music to my ears,” Ali added.
“The house has lots of space, is beautifully arranged, and is in a wonderful location.”
Christian Williams, the BOTB presenter who was part of the team that surprised Ali and got to show him around his new home, said: “This is one of the biggest prizes we’ve ever given away – and to such a deserving winner.
“Ali’s reaction said it all. To go from renting a small flat to owning a stunning family home with a dream car parked outside – and all for 99p – it’s the kind of moment we live for at BOTB.”
