And finally…man gives spammers a pizza his mind

A man is suing an an international pizza chain after his mobile phone was bombarded by a never- ending stream of promotional texts which he was unable to stop.

The texts are said to have caused Plaintiff Jonathan Anozie significant ‘anxiety, frustration and annoyance’.

Mr. Anozie, of Beverly Hills, filed the lawsuit last week in the court for the central district of California.

He claims to have begun receiving unsolicited text messages from Papa John’s in March 2016.

Mr. Anozie asserts that all attempts by him to stop the texts failed and he is now seeking $500 for each text found to be in violation of the law.

Hi solicitors claim that Papa John’s texting violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, enacted in 1991 to curb the rise of telephone marketing calls.

The law restricts the use of automated calls and pre-recorded messages. It also led to the creation in 2003 of a national ‘do not call’ registry, which enables Americans to opt out of telemarketing calls.

In 2012, the act was further modified to require telemarketers to obtain written consent from people before they call them, and to give them an option to refuse future calls.

Mr. Anozie is now requesting a jury trial and seeking compensation for what he describes as disruptive texting,

A spokesperson for the Papa John’s told Fox News they are ‘currently investigating this claim’ but declined to comment further.
