And finally… not cricket

A businessman who bought a dead man’s membership card for Lord’s Cricket Ground has been fined £10,000.

And finally... not cricket

Mr James Lattimer used the card in an attempt to access the best seats. He was spared prison time but was issued the fine on Wednesday.

He put his photograph on to the card which belonged to a member who died back in 2015 and was even wearing a Marylebone Cricket Club tie when he was stopped at the venue last August.

The fraudster has purchased a general ticket to gain access to the ground but carried the membership card to get access into the exclusive pavilion.

Mr Lattimer, who was stopped by security on suspicion of a separate offence of which he was later acquitted, pleaded guilty to fraud in November last year.

Mr Lattimer was ordered to pay the £10,00 fine as well as £425 of prosecution costs and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, The Times reports.
