And finally…Sticky Fingers musician can’t get no satisfaction

A fraudster who claimed £35,000 over three years on a sickness policy for depression and anxiety that he claimed left him housebound was caught out singing with a tribute band, called Sticky Fingers, it has been revealed.

Stephen Shaw, who dishonestly claimed the cash in income protection insurance by claiming to be ill, was been jailed over the scam.

The case was highlighted in the Association of British Insurers’ latest report on UK fraud published this week.

Shaw carried out what Judge Martin Fitton QC at Newport Crown Court in South Wales called “a consistently deliberate” fraud, while claiming to be suffering from depression and anxiety that rendered him housebound.

But the 55-year-old, from New Street, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, was working part-time as a DJ and playing in the band.

He is now serving an 18-month jail sentence.
