An X-Wing starfighter model from the original Star Wars film which has been missing for decades and was then found in a garage, has sold at auction for more then £2.5 million.

The 20-inch model of an X-Wing starfighter has become the most expensive Star Wars “screen-used prop” to be auctioned, Sky News reports.

The X-Wing was found in the collection of the Oscar-nominated model-maker Greg Jein, who died last year aged 76.

Dallas-based Heritage Auctions revealed that the model sold for $3.135m (£2.58m).
