And finally…bankers back jeans for the office
Results of a new survey have revealed that most workers, including bankers, now believe that wearing jeans in the office is acceptable and that a suit and tie is too formal for the modern workplace.
Two out of three of those questioned said they believed it was fine to wear jeans, while three quarters described a suit and tie as too formal.
Bankers agreed, although in smaller numbers, according to the study.
Workplace firm Regus found that tracksuits were the least popular item of clothing when it asked 3,000 adults for their opinions, although the firm was also told by media and marketing workers that there is nothing wrong with wearing sports clothes in the office.
Regus chief executive Richard Morris said a sartorial transformation was taking place in the workplace where it is now acceptable to ditch the more formal dress code.
He said: “Everything about the world of work is changing.
“This more relaxed attitude to workwear is a reflection of the fact that the office environment is now a lot less formal in many cases - lifestyle and work are integrating.
“Business leaders are learning fast about measuring on results rather than attendance and presentation.
