And finally…bare-faced bank job

If you’re going to rob a bank it is probably advisable that you put your cunning disguise through its paces before the big day.

That was the ‘takeaway lesson’ from the experience of one criminal in the US state of Virginia earlier this month.

The master of disguise robbed a branch of SunTrust bank in Rockville, on June 2, but while he managed to escape, his dodgy get-up left him exposed to cameras as his fake beard attempted to make its own getaway a little earlier than planned.

According to a release from the Montgomery County Police Department, the suspect walked into the bank just before noon wearing a hoodie and an obviously fake beard.

Police said the suspect walked up to a teller and passed a note that threatened harm if the teller did not do what he said.

The note also implied the suspect was carrying an explosive device that would detonate if he did not receive any money.

Although the beard was supposed to hide the identity of the robber from prying eyes and security cameras, it didn’t work and kept slipping off and exposing the perp’s face.

Despite the botched beard, the bank robber did manage to leave with an undisclosed amount of cash and is still on the loose.
