And finally…Scottish beach yours for £90,000

Beach Sale
New Aberdour Beach

A significant stretch of Scotland’s north east coastline has been put on the market in an unusual offering that is believed to be a first for the region.

The sale of part of New Aberdour Beach, which is being conducted by estate agents Galbraith, covers 36 acres and includes the pebbles, sandstone caves and wildlife that are there.

Its current owners, who have asked to remain anonymous, are seeking offers above £90,000 for what Galbraith describes as “one of Aberdeenshire’s most beautiful beaches”.

And buyers are also being offered a farmhouse to convert into their dream home, on offer for around £185,000 a quarter of a mile away.

The picturesque retreat was recently used by the producers of the re-make of the classic Whisky Galore film, who used it as a backdrop for some of its scenes.

Hannah Christiansen, of Galbraith, is overseeing the sale on behalf of the owners – a husband and wife pair.

She said: “The Crown normally owns anything from the high tide mark out, but on this occasion we have confirmation from our clients that it is from the low tide mark.

“We’ve tried to make the marketing as clear as we can, and the farm house requires complete upgrading.

“But our client will consider separate offers for the beach above £90,000.”

The beach, which has public parking and is a favourite spot for both tourists and locals over the summer.
