Anderson Strathern Asset Management appoints new MD

Arlene Ewing – Managing director of Anderson Strathern Asset Management

Anderson Strathern Asset Management Limited (ASAM) has appointed Arlene Ewing as managing director as it looks to grow its team and services across Scotland.

Ms Ewing brings more than 35 years’ experience in financial services and is a recognised leader in her field as both a former Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) president for Scotland and CISI Mentor of the Year 2025.

Her appointment comes at a time of significant change in the wealth management sector with the rise of AI and investment technologies coupled with significant changes to laws affecting estate planning.

Ms Ewing will oversee ASAM’s dual-led model combining financial planning and discretionary fund management, a structure offered by few firms in Scotland. The new MD says a rising trend for sector consolidation is leaving many people feeling underserved by large firms and clients are now looking for a more bespoke offering.

Ms Ewing, ASAM MD, said: “It is an exciting time to join Anderson Strathern Asset Management, an independent Scottish firm that has the enviable power to put its clients and people at the heart of its services in terms of the advisory offering and its expertise across Anderson Strathern LLP specialisms.

“This is set to be another challenging year for many individuals who are anxious to know how to plan and protect the futures of themselves and their families. Like many sectors, the rapid development of modern technology means we have impressive tools and solutions to help manage assets, but ultimately human expertise is what people want – and it is what we prioritise at ASAM.

“As a leader and passionate mentor in our sector, I am looking forward to growing the ASAM team and developing the next generation of modern asset management experts in Scotland.”

Ms Ewing’s appointment brings the ASAM team up to 21 including financial advisers, fund managers and support staff working with clients across Scotland. Services include financial planning, pensions, protection, estate planning, and inheritance tax advice, as well as investment management and discretionary fund management.
