Aon bolsters Scottish presence with two key hires across Glasgow and Edinburgh

Aon plc has announced that it has bolstered its corporate team in Scotland with the appointment of Nick Smith, president of the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow, as account director.

Mr Smith brings more than 18 years’ experience to the role and will manage a portfolio of renewable energy clients, advising them on all aspects of risk management and developing bespoke strategies tailored to their needs.

Based in Aon’s Glasgow office, Mr Smith joins from WTW, where he was responsible for designing and delivering insurance placements for a range of corporate clients with multinational operations.

Mr Smith’s appointment forms a key part of Aon’s strategy for growth within the renewable sector, which has grown significantly in recent years.

Ramsey Deans

In addition, Ramsey Deans has joined Aon’s Edinburgh office as a client manager. Ramsey will act as the lead contact for a book of corporate clients within the real estate sector.

Ramsey brings valuable experience to his new role, having spent six years as a senior insurance associate at asset management firm Baillie Gifford and Co. Prior to this, Ramsey worked for Standard Life and later Aberdeen PLC as a solicitor in the litigation and regulatory investigations team, advising on insurance claims.
