BrewDog to triple global presence to 300 bars and hotels by 2030

BrewDog has revealed a major expansion strategy that will triple its bars and hotels operation to approximately 300 venues by 2030.

From launching its inaugural bar in Aberdeen in 2008, the company has since expanded to over 100 sites worldwide, including locations in Las Vegas, Berlin, and Brisbane.

The recent surge in sales across the bar division, driven by this aggressive expansion, has been a significant boon for BrewDog. In 2022, bar revenues saw a £44 million rise, an impressive increase of 68% compared to the preceding year. BrewDog also projects an additional 25% rise in bar revenues for 2023.

Under the new expansion plans, BrewDog intends to open new bars this year in the UK, India, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, USA, and Thailand. Future plans also include sites in China and South Korea.

Within the UK, the brewer is eyeing larger-format venues similar to its flagship bar in London’s Waterloo, in addition to establishing a presence in travel locations in collaboration with SSP. This initiative includes the upcoming opening of its first bar at Gatwick Airport in December.

The firm also plans to introduce new hotel locations within the UK. CEO James Watt said: “Last year we opened our two most ambitious bars yet in Las Vegas and Waterloo, and in a tough economic climate both have vastly exceeded our expectations.

“The success of our new landmark locations is testament to our strategy of investing in high-footfall locations and creating unique environments that redefine the bar experience – everything from coffee shops and workspaces, to hidden cocktail bars, podcast studios, ping pong, bowling and our own beer school.

“In some locations we even have a micro-brewery on site, so our customers can learn to brew for themselves.”
