Carbon wins Gold Standard Award for Independent Financial Advice for the sixth consecutive year

Carbon Financial has once again won the Gold Standard Award for Independent Financial Advice, becoming one of only eight firms in the UK so recognised this year.

Now in their 16th year, the awards support higher standards in financial services in the UK, and the 2018 win means that Carbon, which was founded in 2011 and has offices in Aberdeen, Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, has now achieved the award for six years in a row.

Learning of the win, Carbon managing director Gordon Wilson said: “It’s great news. The Gold Standard Awards are extremely important, considered by many to be the benchmark of excellence in our industry. Only a handful of 5,000 plus financial advisory firms across the UK achieve the Award each year, so to be one of them is a great honour. To be one of them, repeatedly, for six years is even better. It’s absolutely where we want to be.

“As in previous years, the Gold Standard validates the hard work and vision of our incredible team. It is also a significant win for our clients. Clients put their faith in us every day, so it’s hugely gratifying when we can pay this back with an independently-judged award which endorses our claims to excellence and justifies their trust.”

Investment director Barry O’Neill and London office director Darren Lees attended the celebratory Awards ceremony on Wednesday night in the House of Commons, London, where Carbon was presented with the Award by Julian Marr of Incisive Media.

The Gold Standard Awards are judged by an independent panel of experts, which was this year chaired by Rosy Anand, head of marketing, workplace savings and defined benefits solutions at Aviva.

Entrants of the Awards are asked to complete a lengthy questionnaire to demonstrate strength in five ‘pillars’ of their business: Financial Strength, Capability, Service, Fair Value and Trust. They must show in detail how they have gone above and beyond the standard requirements of the industry, and how they have improved on their offering of the previous year; they must also show a commitment to furthering levels of trust throughout the wider financial industry.
