Aberdein Considine has strengthened its corporate and commercial practice with the appointment of new partner Michael Currie to its Glasgow office.

Mr Currie, dual qualified in Scotland and England and Wales and with previous experience in both jurisdictions including for international law firms, was previously head of corporate at Dallas McMillan solicitors.

He specialises in general corporate advisory and transactional legal work in a broad range of sectors, including healthcare, financial services, property and renewables.

Mr Currie’s recent deals include acting for the selling shareholders of two different financial services companies in Glasgow and Edinburgh to the English consolidator Succession Group, the purchase by a French investment fund of a Scottish based renewables company and an EIS fundraising by a Scottish sports software start-up.

Michael’s appointment is a further demonstration of Aberdein Considine’s growth strategy, the main focus of which over the past 12 months has been to bring additional partner-level experience to its legal business. In addition to lateral hires in Property, Private Client and Family Law during 2017, the firm recently announced the appointment of two new partners, Myra Scott and Laura Browne, to the firm’s Lender Services Practice Group who deal with banking litigation.

Jacqueline Law, managing partner of Aberdein Considine, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael as a partner in our corporate team, his transactional experience and expertise in England and Scotland make him a perfect fit for us. This and our other recent senior appointments mean we are well placed to continue to support our clients in Glasgow and across our wider office network.”

Mr Currie added: “I’m extremely pleased to have joined such a forward-thinking and dynamic national firm with the resources and expertise to advice businesses and their owners in a wide range of services and specialisms.”

Aberdein Considine has also appointed a new Business Development Director, Graeme Ross. He was part of the RBS Commercial Banking team in Scotland for 14 years before joining accountancy firm Anderson, Anderson and Brown LLP.

Mr Ross has developed a range of skills during his career, specialising in business development, business planning, business analysis and communications.

Aberdein Considine are a full service property, legal and financial firm and sixteen of the firm’s lawyers were ranked in the 2017 edition of the Legal 500. The listings were across five legal disciplines – Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Litigation, Debt Recovery and Family Law, and followed a year of significant, acquisition-based growth throughout 2016, including the opening of multiple new offices in Glasgow and the first expansion into England Wales.
