CT to host free webinar on forthcoming charity SORP changes

Euan Morrison – Head of charities at CT
Accountants and business advisory firm CT is to hold an event to help third sector organisations navigate forthcoming changes to the charity Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP).
The proposals, which were published in March and are currently under consultation until 20 June, include accounting amendments to certain types of charity income, changes to how charities account for their leases, and revisions to heritage asset recognition. Other proposed changes will impact on how larger charities must disclose additional information and alter the requirements for trustees’ report disclosure.
CT’s free-to-attend event, being held online at 12 noon on Wednesday 28 May, will set out the new SORP proposals, outline their potential impact on accounts being reviewed by charity funders and advise on how organisations should present financial information and consider implications for property leases. It will also cover the other key changes in order to help you to respond to the consultation and prepare for future implementation.
Speaking at the event are CT’s head of charities, Euan Morrison, director Steven Smillie, and Hamish McCallum, a senior manager within the firm’s charity team.
Mr Morrison said: “The government’s proposed changes to the charity SORP will have a wide-reaching impact on charities and their funders. While the new rules are currently under consultation, we have a firm insight into the broader implications of these proposals.
“This event will provide expert advice to charities on the forthcoming rules changes and offer guidance on how they can ensure they are effectively managed under the new regime.”
